We’ve been hearing rumors that Marvel’s ‘Runaways‘ would feature a crossover with ‘Cloak & Dagger‘ and now Jeph Loeb is teasing that it will happen. With the head of Marvel Television being the one to share that this could be in the works it raises the chances that this is a crossover which will occur. Hopefully, it won’t follow in the footsteps of Netflix’s ‘The Defenders’ and mean that one of these two shows will get canceled after their next season.
This could prove to be an interesting event to set up as ‘Runaways’ is on Hulu while ‘Cloak & Dagger’ is on Freeform and the two networks don’t air these shows at the same time. If such a crossover were to happen, it would almost have to occur individually on one of the shows or be two separate events.
According to Loeb:
“What we like what Josh [Schwartz] and Steph [Savage] is that this [Runaways] is a show that can stay on its own. “It can reference the rest of the world, but it’s true to teenagers — they’re not interested in what Tony Stark is doing this week or what Matt Murdock is doing this week, but they might be interested in a couple of kids who live down in New Orleans and what’s going on there.”
As both Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen were briefly members of the ‘Runaways’, there are ways that this could fit, though their membership took place much later outside of the current introductory story arc.
The stars who play Tyrone and Tandy have already shared that they’d be interested in a crossover while the showrunner has hinted that “We’ve had some exciting conversations about how we could artfully cross Tandy and Tyrone over [to other Marvel properties].”
