Tom Holland Spider-Man: Far From Home

It’s a wrap for ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, the highly anticipated sequel to ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, the wall-crawler’s first solo foray in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  One thing we know about this film is that Spidey gets a couple of new costumes in this film.  Tom Holland (or a stuntman) was previously spied in an all-black getup that some have compared to Spider-Man Noir.  (Because we know it’s not Venom!)  Most recently, he has been spotted in a red and black uniform, that many are comparing to the original Steve Ditko illustrations from the earliest ‘Spider-Man’ comic books.

To mark the end of filming, Holland posted a trio of pictures on Instagram.  You can view them below.  The first image is just Holland walking to set in a plain white tee shirt, but after that you can get two really great glimpses of Holland in the red and black suit:

Director Jon Watts returned for ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, along with writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.  Joining Holland in front of the camera were ‘Homecoming’ alumni Zendaya as Michelle “M.J.” Jones (who can also be seen in the last picture Holland posted), Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes/The Vulture, Hemky Madera as shopkeeper Mr. Delmar, Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson, Angourie Rice as Betty (Brant?), Martin Starr as Mr. Harrington, and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May.  Also joining the action are the un-dusted Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders as Nick Fury and Maria Hill.  Jon Favreau is rumored to make an appearance as Happy Hogan.  Jake Gyllenhaal enters as Quentin Beck/Mysterio, although that has not yet been officially confirmed.  And Numan Acar, Remy Hii, and J.B. Smoove appear in undisclosed roles, although Acar is rumored to be playing Dmitri Smerdyakov, better known as the villain The Chameleon.

Noticeably missing is Tiffany Espensen, who played Peter’s classmate Cindy, who is reportedly Cindy Moon, who, in the comics also developed spider powers and became the hero Silk.  It was heavily rumored that Silk would get her own movie and that they would spin out of these ‘Spider-Man’ movies.  She even made a blink-and-you’ll-miss-her cameo in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.  Does this debunk those ‘Silk’ movie rumors?

As for ‘Far From Home’, while some of the scenes obviously take place in Peter’s regular stomping grounds, New York City, this picture also takes him abroad to England and maybe other destinations.

Holland’s Spider-Man will return in ‘Avengers 4’, on May 3, 2019.  ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ opens on July 5, 2019.
