Vin Diesel is already part of the most lucrative comic book movie franchise ever, but in the Marvel movies, only his voice is utilized for Groot. He is now getting set to appear in the flesh as Valiant Comics’ ‘Bloodshot’. Unfortunately, this film isn’t expected in theaters until February 2020, but Diesel and the publisher have offered a tease as to how he will look when it finally does arrive.
Illustrated by Lewis LaRosa, a Diesel-inspired rendering graces the cover to ‘Bloodshot Salvation’ #1, a charity book which will donate proceeds to Reach Out Worldwide, a charity started by Diesel’s longtime co-star Paul Walker, who was killed in an automobile accident in 2013. This cover was commissioned at the request of Dave Wilson, ‘Bloodshot”s director. You can see it below, courtesy of the Entertain Me Podcast:

In ‘Bloodshot’, Diesel will portray a mob hitman, Angelo Mortalli, who is killed only to be revived with superhuman powers, including the ability to heal from all wounds.
‘Bloodshot’ began filming in early August. This marks Wilson’s film directing debut, coming off of a career working on special effects for video games, as well as for the film ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’. The script comes from Eric Heisserer (‘Arrival’) and Jeff Wadlow (‘Truth or Dare’). Joining Diesel in the cast are Alex Anlos, Eiza González, Alex Hernandez, Sam Heughan, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Toby Kebbell, Lamorne Morris, Guy Pearce, and Talulah Riley.
Valiant and Sony hope that ‘Bloodshot’ is just the first entry in a shared universe based on these comic books. A movie based on the title ‘Harbinger’ is planned, to be followed by a ‘Bloodshot’/’Harbinger’ crossover film.
‘Bloodshot’ is expected in theaters on February 21, 2020.
