‘American Horror Story’ star Angela Bassett recently revealed that she has no idea why she was not featured in the newest season, ‘Apocalypse’ Many of the series’ favorite characters were brought back, but Bassett’s ‘Coven’ character Marie Laveau was absent. And many fans were wondering why such a powerhouse would be left out of the show.

Bassett spoke to The Hollywood Reporter and admitted that she is a little disappointed by the snub. She said:

“I have [season 8] on my DVR, but I haven’t seen any of it just yet. But I mean, come on. Where’s Marie Laveau? I’m even a little bit in my feelings that Marie didn’t come back.”

It was confirmed earlier this summer that Bassett would not be returning for ‘Apocalypse.’ Following the news, she said:

“[Marie is] very special to my heart. We got to shoot in New Orleans which is beautiful, that beautiful decay of a city. It was scary, it was funny, it was risqué, it was intriguing, it was historical.”

She continued, saying:

“It was really special, and it was the beginning of it all, beginning of me joining a family.”

While Bassett is noticeably absent from the show, ‘American Horror Story: Apocalypse’ features ‘Coven’ characters Cordelia Goode (Sarah Paulson), Madison Montgomery (Emma Roberts), Queenie (Gabourey Sidibe), Myrtle Snow (Frances Conroy), and Zoe Benson (Taissa Farmiga).

‘American Horror Story: Apocalypse’ airs Wednesdays on FX. If you need to catch up, seasons 1-6 are available on Netflix, with Season 7 available to buy on Amazon Prime Video.
