The Boys

Amazon’s take on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s ‘The Boys‘ is steadily moving forward and today they are sharing exactly how comic accurate it might end up being. Without saying a word, they dropped the first promo shot of all the main characters on the series, and if you were a fan then you’ll quickly recognize this as being a recreation of the cover of the first issue! The studio shows the live-action counterparts to the comic characters who were in the original picture, and you just can’t help but get excited.

Now, to compare the comic shot which can be seen above to the one which was just recreated by the actors:

However, as enjoyable as this is, it is a shame we don’t see Simon Pegg standing in that lineup.

If you’re unfamiliar with the comic which was published through Dynamite Entertainment, you’ll be seeing a world where superheroes have embraced the worst parts of celebrity and fame, and a group of vigilantes called The Boys is trying to put a stop to the corrupt superheroes who have established themselves. Billy Butcher is the leader of The Boys though has a secret agenda of his own that will slowly reveal itself throughout the course of the series.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are developing the series which originally had a home on Cinemax before the network passed on it. Thankfully, streaming services are quite aware of how valuable these comic book based properties can be and Amazon quickly snatched it up. I’m sure it didn’t help that AMC has had quite a bit of luck with the duo’s work on ‘Preacher’ and Amazon wanted to see that same success here.

An exact release date is unknown at this time, but the show is likely to debut on Amazon’s streaming service in 2019.

Are you looking forward to checking out ‘The Boys’? Do you appreciate that they decided to re-create the cover of the first issue with the character’s live-action counterparts? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
