Right when you least expected it, we’re back with an all-new edition of Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! This week things are certainly gaining traction as we head into the horror filled Halloween season comprised of September and October! We’ve got a number of fresh new items from the teams at Diamond Select Toys, NECA, Hasbro, and more of our favorites! There’s plenty to be seen in the Toy News for the week of September 11th, 2018!
A European Exclusive From A Galaxy Far, Far, Away
For the first time in history (or at least in recent memory) the team at Hasbro has announced an all new European convention exclusive item for their popular 6″ scale ‘Star Wars: The Black Series’ toyline! The exclusive in question is an all new figure 2-pack of Han Solo and Princess Leia in Hoth Gear from the beginning of ‘The Empire Strikes Back’.
This new figure 2-pack will come in special window display packaging and be sold exclusively at several European conventions including the Noris Force Convention in Germany from September 21st through 23rd 2018, MCM Comic Con London and Comic Con Paris (both held October 26th through October 28th 2018), and Italy’s Lucca Comics & Games Convention from October 31st through November 4th 2018! This past week Sony’s blockbuster smash hit video game “Marvel’s Spider-Man” hit the market to uproarious applause from both critics and gamers alike! The team at Hot Toys was already celebrating the release of the game with a beautiful 1:6th scale figure of the game’s titular hero Spider-Man based on his appearance in the game, but this week they’re taking things a step further with the announcement of Spider-Man in one of the game’s many alternative costumes, fan favorite Spider-Punk!
This amazing new 1:6th scale figure features Spider-Punk in all of his high-topped glory! He comes packaged with a guitar, webs, alternative eye pieces, alternative hands, a custom display base, and much more! Check out the full release and images from Hot Toys below!
Marvel’s Spider-Man- 1/6th scale Spider-Man (Spider-Punk Suit)
Everyone’s favorite wall-crawler is heading for a new adventure in Marvel’s New York in the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man video game! ‘Golden Axe’ Is Coming To Your Collection
Details are scarce for now, but this week the team at Storm Collectibles has made the official announcement stating that they intend to bring the classic Sega video game franchise ‘Golden Axe’ to your toy collections soon! Their release statement was short and to the point, simply saying the following-
The legend about the Golden Axe begins now!
Fans are already speculating that these new figures will likely be in 1:12 6″ scale much like Storm Collectibles previous offerings in their video game based ‘Mortal Kombat’ toyline, but only time will tell for sure! We will be sure to keep you updated as more information becomes available!
The Hunt Is On For ‘The Predator’ Minimates
The latest film in the ‘Predator’ film franchise (which is adequately titled ‘The Predator’) hits theaters this weekend! With the release of the film so imminent, the team at Diamond Select Toys was finally able to pull back the curtain and reveal the figures included in their new ‘The Predator’ Minimates Box Set! The set will include characters Casey Bracket, Quinn McKenna, Rory McKenna, and The Fugitive Predator! We’re hoping for a second box set to round out the cast a bit further, but considering how deep Diamond Select Toys’ ‘Predator’ Minimates line has been so far, we wouldn’t be surprised to see that This set should be hitting stores later this fall!

The Predator is back, and it’s all brand-new! Shane Black’s new take on the Predator franchise is joining the Predator Minimates line, and this box set includes four figures from the upcoming film – Quinn McKenna, Rory McKenna, Casey Bracket and the Fugitive Predator! Each Minimates mini-figure stands approximately 2 inches tall with up to 14 points of articulation and features fully interchangeable parts and accessories. Packaged on a full-color blister card.
New Frights From NECA
As always, the team at NECA wasn’t content to give us just one scrap of awesome news this week from their various horror related toylines, and have instead given us a number of terrifying new items to share with you!
First up we’ve got a new look at the upcoming ‘Ultimate Bad Blood Predator vs Enforcer Predator’ figure 2-pack from NECA’s long running ‘Predator’ 7″ scale line! This set stands out in particular as it’s the first time (and hopefully not the last) that NECA has ever released a 2-pack of ‘Ultimate’ edition figures! These two are serious upgrades of the previously released versions of the ‘Bad Blood’ and ‘Enforcer’ Predators, so it’s a welcome sight to see indeed! These are expected in stores this October!
It’s another NECA first – an “Ultimate” action figure two-pack! We’ve upgraded our first action figures from Dark Horse’s Predator: Bad Blood comic book series and given them new Ultimate bodies and new exclusive accessories (in addition to all previously released accessories).
Ultimate Bad Blood and Ultimate Enforcer each have two interchangeable head sculpts: Bad Blood has a new masked head and Enforcer has a new unmasked head. Figures stand approximately 8″ tall and feature new, less stylized deco and over 25 points of articulation.
This week we also received our first look at the final packaging for the new ‘Ultimate Friday The 13th Part V: A New Beginning Dream Sequence Jason Voorhees’ figure (holy crap that is a mouthful)! This 7″ scale figure, as mentioned above, is based on the Jason Voorhees we see in a dream sequence rather than *SPOILER ALERT for a 33 year old movie*the film’s actualy killer, Roy. This new Ultimate Jason Voorhees is expected to his stores later this month!
NECA presents the definitive collector’s version of Jason from Friday the 13: A New Beginning! This is Jason as he appears in the nightmares that haunt Tommy, who has been living in mental institutions since he killed Jason in Part 4.
This deluxe 7” scale action figure features over 25 points of articulation and comes with 4 unique, interchangeable heads to represent different dreams (bloody mask, resurrection mask, grave mask and a special mask based on the one-sheet poster). It’s also packed with accessories–machete, axe, ice pick, and tombstone. Bonus: includes an extra left hand with split fingers that can be used with this figure or the Ultimate Part 4 Jason!
Once again NECA has joined forces with the squad at Scream Factory to bring horror fans the ultimate in collectors editions! Last year they brought us a special edition of the horror holiday classic ‘Silent Night Deadly Night’ that included a special 8″ Retro style figure of the film’s killer ‘Billy’, and this year they’re back for more with the sequel! This holiday season Scream Factory and NECA have teamed up for ‘Silent Night, Deadly Night 2’ that will include a super limited edition NECA 8″ Retro styled figure of the killer ‘Ricky’ from the film! Much like last year’s release, it’s been said that Ricky is not planned to be released outside of this collectors set, which is limited to just 2000 pieces! And finally, for those of you who can’t wait for all of these fantastic new goodies to hit the market, NECA has their new 8″ Retro Style ‘Chef Freddy’ figure from ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street Part 5’ hitting stores this week!
