fantastic beasts the crimes of grindelwald

A new behind-the-scenes featurette for ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ has been released! This particular featurette will be exciting for fans of the original ‘Harry Potter’ series, as it features a return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!

‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ opened up a new side of the Potterverse by showing us the magical side of America in the 1920s, and now author and screenwriter J.K. Rowling is using the sequel to connect the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ franchise to iconic parts of her Potter world.

The featurette reveals that the location used for the Hogwarts exterior in the sequel is the same one used in three of the ‘Harry Potter’ films, so it should bring on some nostalgia for fans. Hogwarts fits into the storyline of ‘Crimes of Grindlewald’ because the sequel introduces Jude Law’s version of a young Dumbledore. The future headmaster has a history with Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and a connection with Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) himself. Newt finds himself back in the hallowed halls of Hogwarts when Dumbledore asks his help in bringing an end to Grindelwald and his dark plan.

Rowling has said that the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ franchise will feature five movies in total, but what sets this franchise apart from ‘Harry Potter’ is the fact that it follows adults, not children. But, maybe Hogwarts will play a bigger part in the story than we know!

Check out the new featurette below! ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ also stars Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Zoe Kravitz, and Callum Turner and opens in theaters on November 16th.
