While AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ has suffered from a drop in ratings, the one area which has never dropped in quality has been the zombies and now the man responsible for them, Greg Nicotero, has signed on as the creature designer for ‘Spawn.’ One area that fans were worried about for Todd McFarlane‘s upcoming film is that any monsters or the central anti-hero himself might not be up to par but with Nicotero’s involvement you know it is going to be visually spectacular.
The man just knows how to craft well-designed horror. The announcement has come that he and his KNB EFX studio will be in charge of the feature film that has both Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Renner starring in this supernatural horror film based on the long-running Image comic.
It should be noted that Nicotero and his KNB EFX Group were also involved in New Line’s 1997 release of ‘Spawn’ as well.
According to McFarlane, the creator is excited to work with the famed creature creator as:
“I’m a longtime fan of Greg’s work and the projects his company, KNB, have done throughout the years. Working with him once again, to re-invent the Spawn ‘look’ so it will match the supernatural theme in the movie, is going to be a fun process.”
While Nicotero is most known for his work on both ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Fear the Walking Dead,’ his effects studio has been keeping quite active working on such films as ‘The Hateful Eight’, ‘Lone Survivor’, ‘This is the End’, and ‘The Green Inferno’ in recent years.
