A lot of us were hoping to see what exactly Han Solo was up to while he was part of The Empire. We saw a few hints in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story,‘ but the full story has been a mystery. Until now. Lucasfilm is teaming up with their fellow Disney-owned property Marvel Comics to give us another outing in a galaxy far, far away. In ‘Star Wars: Han Solo – Imperial Cadet’ we’re going to have Robbie Thompson writing a tale with art by Leonard Kirk that will share Solo’s attempts at becoming the best Imperial pilot in the galaxy.
This will be a five-issue mini-event, and Marvel Comics is describing the first issue as:
YOUNG SOLO’S ADVENTURES CONTINUE! HAN SOLO escapes Corellia by joining the IMPERIAL NAVY, vowing to return for QI’RA. But how does a thief used to the chaos of the streets adjust to the order and discipline of the military? Not well! Han’s dream of becoming a pilot is quickly grounded as he realizes he may not even survive basic training!

We all know better than to judge a comic book by its cover these days, especially as David Nakayama is doing the cover which likely won’t match up with the style that Kirk uses inside. I’m hoping this will be the case as I’m not a huge fan of what Nakayama put together here.
Are you looking forward to seeing more of Han Solo’s past in ‘Star Wars: Han Solo – Imperial Cadet’? Do you think this book will share more insight than ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ did? Do you agree with me and aren’t thrilled with this cover? Share your thoughts below!
