It’s finally official, ‘The Predator‘ is going to be rated-R and not have to water things down for a PG-13 rating! To celebrate, Fox has shared a few new images of the film. Director Shane Black has often stated that he was shooting for a hard R and now that happily seems to be the case. That will be one less thing for fans of the franchise who are hoping we’ll finally get a good installment have been hoping for. The reason for the R-rating has been given as “strong bloody violence, language throughout, and crude sexual references.” (As a side note for those who missed it, Black did say in a tweet last year that “PG-13 is for pussies” so you can tell what his stance has been for the film all along.)
Thankfully, they aren’t going the route of ‘The Meg‘ and ‘Venom’ to try to increase their audience size which we know failed for the first of the two films.
As to the new stills from the film, first up we have a look at some of our humans who likely won’t be all making it out of this one alive:
Next up is a Predator holding up a human who is probably about to have an awful day:
Now for another Predator without his mask on, it looks like there are some humans behind him and he doesn’t have any armor on to speak of so this should make for an interesting scene:
More previous lambs lining up for the slaughter:
It looks like the Predators are going to enjoy lifting humans up in this film, are they using us as weights for a mid-hunt workout?
You knew they were going to give us at least a shot if not quite a few of how the Predators see our world:
We’ve also got two shots of the Super Predator being introduced in the film. This is the one which is supposed to help move the plot forward, though it almost sounds like including him and how humanity founds out about him is going to convolute things a bit:
Convoluted or not, he does look cool!
