Linda Hamilton, the original Sarah Connor from James Cameron’s ‘Terminator’ movies, is preparing for the upcoming sequel! In the first exclusive photo from the film, we see Hamilton team up with Mackenzie Davis (‘Blade Runner 2049’) and Natalia Reyes (‘Birds of Passage’).
The as of yet untitled ‘Terminator’ film has started production. It was previously revealed that the sequel will make a departure from ‘Terminator: Genisys’ and will serve as a follow-up to Cameron’s original saga.
Hamilton will return as Sarah while Davis, taking the leading role for the franchise, will play a character named Grace and Reyes will play Dani Ramos. The photo of Grace reveals markings on her skin, which could indicate that she is not exactly human.
While details for the plot of the next ‘Terminator’ installment are being kept under wraps, it is being directed by Tim Miller (‘Deadpool’) and is based on a script by David Goyer. Cameron is producing the film with David Ellison.
‘Terminator: Genisys’ was originally meant to serve as the beginning of a new age for the franchise, and a sequel to the film starring Emilia Clarke was already in the works when negative critical reception and poor performance at the box office forced the studio to re-think their plans.
The upcoming film will serve as Hamilton’s first time playing Connor since the second ‘Terminator’ film in 1991. Cameron made a statement following the announcement that Hamilton would return to the screen, saying:
“As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger will also appear in the film in a role that has yet to be announced. The new ‘Terminator’ will hit theaters on November 22, 2019.
