While we still don’t have any official word as to what James Mangold‘s ‘Boba Fett: A Star Wars Story‘ might be about or where it is in pre-production, one author has a few ideas for it. Daniel Keys Moran penned the short story “The Last One Standing: The Tale of Boba Fett” and has a bit of insight on the character. While one might shrug off someone who has worked in what is now referred to as “Legends” for the “Star Wars” universe, it turns out that the author has spoken with Disney multiple times about his work.

In fact, it sounds like elements of it will be the foundation on which the entire movie will be built. The story explored much of Fett’s origin which could be partially used with what fits into the current canon of “Star Wars,” but more importantly it explains Fett’s fixation and early rivalry with Han Solo. This area could further tie together ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story‘ as well as ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.’

According to Moran:

“I’ve had a guy at Disney email me a couple times over the years regarding Lucasfilm adapting Last One Standing into a Fett movie. Not asking permission, they own those works, just letting me know they were thinking about it. So that was kind. But after Solo stiffed, apparently there’s some question about the Fett movie being made.”

We’ve heard that the box office sales of ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ hasn’t changed the direction of anything that Lucasfilm has in the works, so if that is true we could very likely see this as a film which Alden Ehrenreich reprises his role as Han Solo.

Would you be excited to see why Boba Fett hates Han Solo so much? Do you think this sounds like a solid inspiration for a solo Boba Fett outing? Share your thoughts below!
