Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Game Of Thrones

A Lannister always pays his debts and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau‘s are now all settled as he has shot his last scene as Jaime Lannister on HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones.’ We might still have to wait until 2019 to see how the series comes to a stunning conclusion but Coster-Waldau will no longer be involved in the production of the series and has left Westeros for good.

According to the actor:

“I don’t think it’ll ever be gone from my life. I’m going back to Belfast next week. I’m not 100% done, but I’ve shot the last scene with me.”

While he might still have some dialogue to record and promotional material to stand in for, there won’t be another set visit in the actor’s future. This statement doesn’t make it clear if Jaime will not be in the series finale and meet his end before that or if the final episode has already been shot.

He isn’t leaving without acknowledging the creatives who are responsible for the show though and praises both D.B. Weiss and David Benioff and says of them that:

“They just couldn’t have done a better job on ending our story. We’ve worked harder than ever before. We spent twice as much shooting these six episodes than we did on two full seasons before. No expense has been spared. We’ve gone all in.”

It was already clear that we would have both extended episodes and a larger budget to realize the vision that Weiss and Benioff have brought to HBO and with the cast just as excited as we are should mean that we’re in for a real treat.

One fond memory that he’ll have of working on this smash hit is that “we haven’t had any a-holes on the show. It’s quite something” which is something to say for such a huge cast. He doubled down on how much he loves working with the other actors by saying that “I’m gonna miss all those people, that’s for sure.”

Are you going to miss watching the cast of ‘Game of Thrones’ as much as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will miss working with them? Do you feel that Jamie Lannister is going to make it to the very end of the show or be killed off before we get there? Share your thoughts below!
