We’ve heard a variety of rumors touching on Peter Jackson when it comes to Amazon Studios’ upcoming ‘Lord of the Rings‘ series. Everything from active involvement to reusing some of the scenes, CGI, sets, and props from the films which put Jackson’s name on the map. With a budget of half a billion to bring the show to life, it could be an enticing way to bring the director back in some capacity, but it hasn’t been clear how exactly Amazon Studios would want him or if the director would even be interested in retreading stories that he’s already successfully told.

However, an insider seems to have shared that the studio has reached out to the director but that he isn’t the only one being courted:

We’re still not sure if the new series is set to retell the existing stories while adding new content or work around the films that Jackson has already made and flesh out the stories and untold tales of Middle-Earth. I believe if we’re going to have the classic stories retold and expanded upon, it would be best to have someone else involved, however, if this will somehow expand upon the current cinematic adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s world it would make sense to have Jackson involved.

However, he’d be without Andy Serkis as Gollum.

Would you be excited for Peter Jackson to be involved in Amazon Studios’ ‘Lord of the Rings’ or do you want new blood behind and in front of the camera? Do you think retelling an expanded version of the stories with all of the unfinished work and tie-in stories would be the way to go or would you prefer just work that hasn’t been adapted yet?
