Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds is many things: actor, comedian, smartass, and now writer. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, the actor who embodies Wade Wilson has been named one of the co-writers of ‘Deadpool 2‘. He initially pushed to have co-writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick return to script the sequel of the movie that they so lovingly crafted and this time it seems Reynolds had a larger role in the creative process and now shares a writing credit with the pair!

Reynolds has acted in and produced quite a few films, but with the screenwriting credits showing as “Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Ryan Reynolds,” this will be the first movie that the Merc with the Mouth has had a writing credit on. It should be noted that this isn’t just a minor credit for his time improvising lines either. Writing credits separated by ampersands (&) indicate that they had to work as a team on the entire script.

This comes directly from a clause by the Writers Guild of America. If they had said “and Ryan Reynolds’ instead of “& Ryan Reynolds” it would mean that he had altered the script in some fashion and hadn’t worked with the duo as a team.

I think fans of Reynolds as Deadpool all feel that it is a natural fit for the actor to work so much with the character that he has truly made his own. From the slew of one-liners he came up with for the original film, it isn’t surprising that he’d be even more invested here.

Are you glad to hear that Ryan Reynolds was intimately involved in helping pen ‘Deadpool 2’ or do you feel that the actor might have too much influence over the movie in a bad way as Tom Cruise was rumored to in ‘The Mummy’? Share your thoughts below, True Believers!

Whatever ‘Deadpool 2’ is called it will be due out on the big screen this May 18th, 2018!
