The Dark TowerWe had already seen hints and had heard that ‘The Dark Tower’ film was going to be a continuation of Stephen King‘s novels and now more confirmation has arrived. Thankfully, the story is being told in such a way where having read the books isn’t necessary for enjoying the movie. The official confirmation came directly from Nikolaj Arcel who did a recent interview with IGN, and while he didn’t share much, this little tidbit did come up!

Many fans have complained about the trailer not being entirely faithful to the books, but this is pretty much the perfect way to explain it away. Not only that, but it fits in with how the books came to a close! Here is exactly what Arcel had to say about the project:

“It is, in fact, a continuation. It is actually a canon continuation. That’s exactly what we intended and what Stephen King signed off on. What really got me excited was when he tweeted ‘last time around.’ It was just so cool.”

We know that King has been involved in the pre-production work on this movie and one has to wonder now exactly how much creative input he actually had. If this is the final chapter to his books, it could very well mean he had a lot more overall say in how the movie or movies are actually being put together.

For those who haven’t read the books, you really should! However, they pretty much ended with the story restarting from the first book with a key change. It fits to continue from there, and it is great to officially hear that this is the plan.
