Scoobynatural

The special ‘Scoobynatural’ episode of ‘Supernatural’, guest starring the animated cast of the classic cartoon staple ‘Scooby-Doo’, will air on Thursday March 29.  Excitement is high for this installment which sees Dean and Sam Winchester, along with Castiel, transported into the 1970 episode “A Night of Fright Is No Delight.”  But things go from Saturday morning sweet to ‘Supernatural’ scary in no time, as it seems the guys’ presence in the cartoon changes its outcome.

The episode will have its world premier tomorrow at the ‘Supernatural’ panel at PaleyFest, held in Los Angeles.  The Winchesters’ Chevy Impala will be on display alongside the Mystery Machine and Scooby himself will be on hand to pose for pictures.  Also tomorrow, Hot Topic will release a line of ‘Scoobynatural’ merchandise, including tee shirts and other items, featuring the animated versions of Dean, Sam and Cas along with the Mystery Inc. gang.

Though most of us have over a week to go to see this episode, Entertainment Weekly has unveiled 27 new images from it as a hint of what’s to come.

‘Supernatural’ stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins.  Robert Singer directed the ‘Scoobynatural’ episode, with a script by James Krieg and Jeremy Adams.  The episode features the voices of Grey DeLisle as Daphne Blake, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, Kate Micucci as Velma Dinkley, and Frank Welker as Fred Jones and Scooby-Doo.

About the episode, Singer said:

“Once they get over their amazement at being in the cartoon, two things happen.  They say, ’We’ve been in a situation like this before with the Trickster and I think we’re supposed to play this out.’ And then they realize they’re in a Scooby-Doo cartoon, which makes Dean incredibly excited because Scooby-Doo was his favorite cartoon growing up… There are things you wouldn’t see in a regular Scooby-Doo cartoon.”

But Singer’s co-showrunner Andrew Dabb quickly clarified that Lucifer/The Trixter is not the one responsible for teleporting the Winchesters and Cas into this episode of ‘Scooby-Doo’.  We’ll just have to wait and see who is begind this event.

‘Scoobynatural’ premiers on Thursday, March 29, at 8 pm EST on the CW.
