Supernatural Scooby-Doo

We just got our first glimpses of images from the ‘Supernatural’ episode “Scoobynatural” that sees the Winchester Brothers and Castiel sucked into a magical TV and turned into cartoons, but not just on any animated series but ‘Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?‘.  Now comes the first teaser for the episode.  In the clip, we see the Winchester brothers in live action before they find themselves in animated form.  After some investigation, they come across the Mystery Machine and then Daphne, Freddy, Shaggy, Velma and Scooby himself at the local malt shop.

Check it out below:

“Dibs on Daphne,” Dean remarks as he and Sam enter the malt shop.  As co-showrunner Andrew Dabb said:

“Dean came of age in a time before the internet when Daphne wasn’t so bad.  Dean has very strong opinions on all the Scooby characters, but especially Daphne and Fred.”

In the episode, the Winchesters are given a TV that turns out to be magical and the brothers are sucked into the ‘Scooby-Doo’ episode  “A Night of Fright Is No Delight” from 1970.  Because ‘Scooby-Doo’ was Dean’s favorite cartoon, he has extensive knowledge of the show and even recognizes which episode they are in.  Don’t expect this to be an entirely lighthearted romp.  While the episode may start out more ‘Scooby-Doo’, things do turn more ‘Supernatural’.  Expect things to get darker.  The brothers have found themselves trapped in TV before, thanks to Gabriel/Trixter, but the showrunners assure that he is not responsible for this latest exploit.  But it’s also not a guy in a rubber mask.  (Or as in the case of “A Night of Fright Is No Delight’, two guys.)

Castiel is not present when the brothers are transported into the show, but… he’s a magical angel.

‘Scoobynatural’ premiers on Thursday, March 29, at 8 pm EST on the CW.
