When Xenomorphs attack we see people die, though ‘Aliens‘ has shown that children can survive these attacks and ‘Aliens: Dust to Dust’ will give us a story told through the eyes of a 12-year-old. The 4-issue miniseries is being penned and illustrated by Gabriel Hardman who was the storyboard artist for ‘Logan’, ‘Dawn of Planet of the Apes’, ‘Batman: The Dark Knight Rises’ and more!

The story will take place at “the Trono colony on the planet LV-871” where the residents are under attack by “mysterious and deadly creatures of unknown origin.” While Xenomorphs descend on the colony, the survivors are ordered to evacuate and we follow 12-year-old Maxon and his mother who are trying to make it both “to the safety of the spaceport” and off the planet! However, a horde of Aliens stand in their way.

I’m calling it here that either they’ll both make it to a ship off planet or just when Maxon does when we found out either an Alien is also on board or someone was infected by a Facehugger.

As to the reason we’re seeing this through the eyes of a child, according to Hardman:

“I was actually inspired to tell the story from the point of view of a 12-year-old boy in large part because that’s the age I was when first exposed to Aliens. I didn’t want to write about Marines or anyone who seems like they could stand up to the xenomorphs. Kids lack power — they lack agency. I wanted to throw this boy into extraordinarily scary and difficult circumstances and force him to navigate it. And not tell it from the parent’s perspective, but the kid’s.”

I actually first saw ‘Aliens’ when I was about 9 and it installed a love of horror, science fiction, and creepy scary space-based stories into my heart ever since. With his reasoning in mind, I honestly cannot wait for a chance to pick up this book. As a HUGE fan of the recently released ‘Aliens: Dead Orbit‘ I suspect that this will be able to capture a different type of tension and really work for readers.

Do you like the premise for ‘Aliens: Dust to Dust’? Is this a different enough point of view to capture your attention and add a new level of tension to these stories? Share your thoughts below!

‘Aliens: Dust to Dust’ #1 will be spreading to your local comic shop on April 24th, 2018!
