While fans are still angry or reeling from losing Carl Grimes on ‘The Walking Dead,‘ it looks as if another character has a story coming to a close and that is Daryl Dixon. Now, before you get ready to riot at AMC’s corporate office it isn’t clear if they mean his current story arc for wanting vengeance against Negan will come to a close or if Norman Reedus is about to be out of a zombie killing job. The way Reedus talked about it in the latest issue of EW, it could mean either one.

Daryl has quite a few unresolved issues with The Saviors, from Dwight betraying his trust to the torture which Negan put him through. That isn’t even mentioning the loss of quite a few of his friends along the way.

Daryl and Dwight were both in the Alexandria sewers when the mid-season finale came to a close, but we know that plenty of action is ahead of us.

According to Norman:

“There’s some really good Daryl stuff coming up with some of the characters he’s been going toe-to-toe with. I love the way some of those stories get wrapped in the end. There’s a real beauty to it. It’s not exactly the way that you think. It wraps up in a very poetic way.”

That could really be taken either way and as a fan-favorite no one wants to see Norman go. With Carl already on the way out when the upcoming season returns, the series could potentially use Daryl as a way to replace his parts in any upcoming story arcs which remain faithful to the comics.

Someone is going to have to keep Rick going as Andrew Lincoln shares:

“The back half [of the season] is him trying to live through the unbelievable pain, in the middle of a war, and trying to reconcile this loss with what he’s fighting for. This is his worst nightmare being realized.”

Will Daryl end up being the rock that Rick needs in his life or will he push Grimes into more extreme actions as the back half of the season continues? Share your thoughts below!
