It’s extremely exciting although you’ve seen a few like it before- it’s a brand new Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! This week was a bit of a doozy with all of these amazing new film trailers hitting and hyping us up for a long summer of watching new movies and then buying the toylines based on them! Still, there’s plenty of toy news to go around, so lets check out the Toy News for the week of April 21st, 2015!

 Toys And Gods And Monsters

DC Entertainment recently announced their all new animated film ‘Justice League: Gods & Monsters’, which is coming from the creative mind of the legendary Bruce Timm! This story is based around the Justice League of an alternate universe, and as such, is based around a whole new set of characters that bring us brand new alternate takes on some of our favorite heroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman! What’s even more exciting, is that DC Collectibles has already announced a series of three figures based on the upcoming animated film, bringing the trinity of DC Comics legend to life in plastic form!

These upcoming 6″ scale figures of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman look to be following in the footsteps of DC Collectibles popular ‘Batman: The Animated Series‘ line in both style and articulation, rather than the style of the figures from other previous DC Animated films like the 7″ scale ‘Batman and Son’ or ‘Justice League War’ toylines. Both this and the ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ line are based on the art style of Bruce Timm, so this shouldn’t be too surprising. These figures are expected to hit the market later this year.

Recently, rumors began circulating that Entertainment Earth was going to be selling a brand new exclusive Marvel Legends ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ 5-figure box set that would include comic book versions of the hit series cast. The set would include comic versions of Starlord (a re-release of last years SDCC Exclusive), Drax (re-used head sculpt on a larger upper torso with new legs), Gamora (brand new figure!), Rocket Raccoon (re-release of the BAF Rocket with a new headsculpt and paint apps), and Groot (re-release of the movie Groot BAF with a newly sculpted head).

These guys were teased at back at Toy Fair 2015, but now thanks to ToyChestNews we’re getting our first look at the all new ‘Predator’ Minimates! This first series is blindbagged, so you never really know who you’re going to get when you buy them (much like with the recent ‘TMNT’ and ‘Mass Effect’ Minimates), but at least now we’ve got some idea of who might turn up! The case listing for this wave includes:

  • Jungle Hunter Predator (Unmasked, from ‘Predator’)
  • Jungle Hunter Predator (Masked, from ‘Predator’)
  • Jungle hunter Predator (Thermal, from ‘Predator’)
  • Billy (From ‘Predator’)
  • City Hunter Predator (Unmasked , from ‘Predator2’)

These figures are due out in the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for them!

This Sith Only Deals In Absolute… Awesomeness!

While most of us can agree that ‘The Phantom Menace’ was an overall weak film that was kind of a let down, we can also mostly agree that Darth Maul was one of the coolest parts of the film (besides the Podrace, of course). The team over at ToyArk is reporting that the latest figure being added to the SH Figuarts ‘Star Wars’ line is none other than this iconic Sith Lord himself! Check out this first look at SH Figuarts Darth Maul below:

A Blast From The Past

With the end of ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ animated series, many people felt that some characters were left as a hanging footnote on the ‘Star Wars’ universe; never really getting their proper due ending. This past year during the new ‘Star Wars’ animated series, ‘Star Wars: Rebels’, fans rejoiced as they saw the return of one of these characters (and Season 2 is rumored to be bringing back more!), Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano! Now to show Ahsoka some more love, Hasbro is bringing the fan favorite character to the 6″ scale ‘Star Wars: Black Series’ toyline! The figure first premiered this past week at Star Wars Celebration 2015 and is due to hit the market hopefully before year’s end!
