While it doesn’t sound like we’ll be getting a 22-episode second season for ‘The Orville’ when it returns to Fox on its sophomore outing, it should have at least 2 more added into the mix if not more! The downside is that we’re likely going to have to wait. You would expect Season 2 to drop for the fall in a normal year but Seth MacFarlane shared at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that it is still only being written at this point.
According to MacFarlane:
“I think it’s going to be at least 14 [episodes]. I’d rather do fewer episodes and have them be better content-wise than do 22 and have them be filler.”
It had previously been reported that the first season would be 13-episodes but one had been moved to the second season. If that is the case, we’re really looking at only 2 13-episode seasons unless another is getting mixed in which we haven’t been made aware of at this point. As to the likelihood of a fall debut, MacFarlane vetoed that pretty quick saying “No, there’s too much to do.”
Do you think we’ll be getting the second season in winter of 2018 or will it be like ‘Game of Thrones’ where we have to wait until 2019? Share your thoughts below!
