Just months before the release of ‘Untitled Deadpool Sequel’, in which Zazie Beetz takes on the role of mercenary Domino, the character will for the first time, receive her own comic book series. Created by Rob Liefeld, Domino, a.k.a. Neena Thurman, (kind of) made her debut in 1991’s ‘New Mutants’ #98, which was also the first appearance of a certain Merc With A Mouth, Deadpool. (It was later revealed that this Domino was actually the mutant Copycat– a.k.a. Vanessa Carlyle, a non-mutant character played by Morena Baccarin in ‘Deadpool’. The real comic book Domino appeared in the flesh in ‘X-Force’ #8 in 1992.)
While she was a key player in the ‘X-Force’ comic book as well as various others, she has never starred in her own… until now.
Superstar writer Gail Simone is headed to Marvel to pen the exploits of “Lady Luck.” Greg Land and Frank D’Armata provide the cover to issue #1.
Lady luck goes solo this spring.
When Domino finds herself on the wrong side of the mercenary community, the favorite femme fatale has to fight back and, somehow, stay alive. Hunted by her enemies, a danger to her friends, and chased by the man who hates her more than anything, Domino will be up against the odds—but that’s never stopped her before.
Simone explained her take on the character, saying, “My favorite characters are always the unpredictable ones, and with Domino, you literally never know which way the dice are going to roll. I love her, and I can’t wait to show her best bad side!”
Editor Chris Robinson added, “Domino will continue to be one of the breakout stars of WEAPON X, but fans have been clamoring to see her get the spotlight for some time now…well, your wish has been granted!”
Issue #1 of ‘Domino’ will arrive in April. Just a couple of months later, catch Zazie Beetz as the first live action Domino in the much-anticipated ‘Deadpool 2’ which hits theaters on June 1, 2018. The film is directed by David Leitch and stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Josh Brolin, Zazie Beetz, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Karan Soni, Stefan Kapicic, Leslie Uggams and Jack Kesy as villain “Black Bob.”
