WARNING: Spoilers for ‘Supergirl’ Season 3 ahead!
After the epic Winter Finale of ‘Supergirl,’ fans were certain the show was going to up the ante when the series returned for the back half of the season, and it seems they are doing that and more. When ‘Supergirl’ returns, it appears she will be getting some help to deal with Reign, who left her battered and in a coma at the end of the winter finale. The episode also brought in some fan-favorite heroes from the future as her allies, a team and characters that have been hinted at and set-up by the series for quite some time now, especially once Mon El reappeared this season.
First off, here’s the synopsis for the episode:
Struggling to heal from her injuries inflicted by Reign (Odette Annable), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) remains in a dreamlike state, unable to be reached. Mon-El (Chris Wood) recruits one of the Legion members, Brainiac-5 (guest star Jesse Rath), to try to bring her back. Meanwhile, Reign continues her rampage on the city so the DEO teams up with the Legion of Superheroes to try to stop her.
And here’s the official character description for Brainiac 5 from TV Line:
Half computer, half organic life and boasting a 12-level intellect, Brainiac 5 is a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes who travels to National City from the 31st Century to help Supergirl and the DEO battle Reign.
In all honesty, the episode has massive potential here, as we could see any number of Legion heroes help out against Reign. I personally have always been a fan of Brainiac 5 and cannot wait to see what ‘Supergirl’ does with the character (though if he’s green, I hope they manage to find a way to differentiate him from the Martian Manhunter on the show).
What are your thoughts on the Legion finally arriving in National City? Will they be able to stand up to Reign in Kara’s absence, or will they just be the holding action until she manages to pull herself together? (And where is Superman in all of this?) Share your theories in the comments below!
