WARNING: Spoilers ahead for this week’s episode of ‘Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD!”
In case you were not already tipped off by the trailer for this week’s episode, or the rampant internet rumors/ news/ gossip, Nick Blood is coming back to ‘Agents of SHIELD’ next week as Lance Hunter, reprising his role from seasons past after he and Adrianne Palicki (Bobbi Morse) left to star in their own spin-off on ABC which sadly never panned out. Fans have been wondering ever since the spin-off’s failure whether we could see Bobbi and Hunter return to ‘SHIELD’ proper.
Although Palicki is currently busy over on FOX helping run ‘The Orville‘ and its crew of misfits, it seems they were able to get Nick Blood back for this year’s crazy plotline. It seems this week we are going to flashback to what Fitz has been up to while the rest of SHIELD has been in the future, and it will involve Fitz being in prison and being saved by Hunter, who sadly will be coming alone, and not with Bobbi.
When asked where Bobbi is during Hunter’s return to ‘Agents of SHIELD,’ Blood stated the following:
“What I would say is they probably and a tiff a few days before and this time apart is allowing her to cool off. Now they each have a little bit of time and space to think until the situation calms down. That’s what I imagine.”
Of course, that is not to say he did not feel weird about being back on ‘SHIELD’ without his former partner saying:
“Yes. Yes, it was quite strange, because they make such a good duo. They have a great dynamic together and it would have been really fun to work with Adrianne again, because we get on very well off-screen, we’re good friends and stuff. But Hunter’s got his Bobbi fix, so he’s probably grateful for a little time away from the ex-wife!”
It should be a fun episode as Fitz and Hunter have good onscreen buddy-comedy-type chemistry together, and it will be interesting to see how exactly Fitz ends up waltzing into the Lighthouse as revealed at the end of last week’s SHIELD episode.
