The holiday season is here, and no matter which holiday you celebrate, it’s probably safe to say that everybody likes to get at least a little bit festive! While he hasn’t shown much evidence of it since that infamous night in 1978, the ‘Star Wars’ series own Chewbacca is especially fond of spreading holiday cheer! And now thanks to the good folks at Entertainment Earth, you’ll be able to display Chewie in all of his holiday loving glory with the new ‘Star Wars’ Chewbacca Holiday Statue! To make things even better, we’re giving you a chance to win one at the end of this review!
This especially cheerful Chewbacca Holiday Statue stands approximately 8″ tall, and is designed to be used primarily as a display piece or table ornament. This piece was designed by Kurt S. Adler, who is well known as one of the largest purveyors of holiday ornaments and decorations in the world! As you can tell from the pictures, this statue features Chewbacca, the lovable and loyal Wookie from the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, joyfully expressing some holiday cheer!
Chewie is carrying a satchel full of tree ornaments, with a number of string lights draped around him and a small Christmas Tree (star included) in his large and furry hand! The statue itself is sculpted of fabric mache, while his satchel feels like it’s made of actual soft-goods fabric material. The string lights do not light up, but it’s worth noting that they are actually all individual little lightbulbs (well, plastic that looks like lightbulbs) individually attached to an actual string so that it really drapes naturally around our Wookie friend rather than being a hard sculpted detail. There are a number of individual small tree ornaments attached to this statue both on the based and in Chewie’s satchel, which is a really nice touch! it’s great to see these details are added on, rather than blandly sculpted in. Even the tiny Christmas Tree is a separately attached piece!
Looking a bit lower here, we can see Chewbacca is standing on a display base that’s made to look like snow! I just wanted to note how much I love the paint job and glitter effects that were used on the snow here (and on the tiny Christmas Tree) because it looks like some pretty legitimate snow there! The way the light bounces off of it naturally to create that small sparkle makes a world of difference in recreating the natural wonder that snow brings. The display base also has a small gift box attached to it for even more holiday fun! The gift box is made of cardboard and has an actual ribbon tied around it to make it feel even more realistic.
Overall, there is just so much to love about this piece. Between Chewie’s jolly expression, the string lights on actual strings, the fresh fallen snow on the base and tree that even sparkles… everything about this is just fun. Aside from being mildly fragile (it is a statue after all), this 8″ ‘Star Wars’ Chewbacca Holiday Statue is an awesome piece for any Star Wars fan to decorate their home with this Holiday season!
