With Mark Millar so busy these days with Netflix picking up Millarworld, it has been unclear as to the status of ‘Kick-Ass 3’ though it sounds like next week that’ll be changing. ‘Kick-Ass 2’ came out four years ago and while fans enjoyed it, the sequel didn’t receive the same critical acclaim or box office results as Matthew Vaughn’s first installment. While some would argue that the R-Rated comic book could have helped give us films such as ‘Deadpool’, ‘Logan’, and clearly ‘Kingsman’, there hasn’t been word as to if there would be an endcap to make this a trilogy or not.
While we still aren’t sure about the fate of the third movie it sounds as if there will be an announcement next week related to Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl! Now, that could mean a third movie, it could mean that Netflix ponied up more cash to buy the rights to the series, or it could mean a new set of comics. My money is on the comics and I’ll share why in a moment but we won’t know until next week but according to the following Tweet from Millar we will be learning something of consequence:
Right, this brilliance won’t write itself. Time to help get a press release together for the big Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl news next week… pic.twitter.com/Z2hxrTgt4B

In fact, we even learned exactly where the news would be delivered at!

Now my reasoning for this being a comic? If you click on over to that Facebook link above you get some comic book looking images. While it could just be a comic-based image being used to promote a new film they also have the description of the page being that of a “book series”.
Follow that up by clicking on the Instagram and you’re graced with the two images combined a cover of ‘Kick-Ass #1 by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. which we’ve included with the article.
So, fans of the movie I wouldn’t get my hopes up too high for another movie but this all could be a secretive way to keep fans out of the loop until the official announcement.
