x-files

With the ‘X-Files’ set to return once more, it becomes the first of FOX’s reboots that we can call “successful,” as neither their relaunch of ’24’ or ‘Prison Break’ got picked up for further seasons, or met with much fanfare. Could it be that when the ‘X-Files’ returned they came back with more of their main cast, writers, producers, and only ran for 6 episodes, leaving fans desiring more? It certainly was not the quality of the episodes, which fans received with mixed reviews, with the most well-liked episode being ‘Mulder and Scully Meet the Were Monster.’ Now the new season is coming back, and it seems they are striving hard to meet fan expectations this time around, upping the number of episodes from 6 to 10, including two mythology-heavy episodes.

The franchise clearly has a lot more stories to tell, and if the new promo is any indication, they will be mining the alien plotline this season as well, which is always a fan favorite when done right. Hopefully, if this is the end of the series, they will finally find a way to end things on a satisfying note, which they have yet to do successfully through all the various TV and movie finales so far.

The new promo, titled ‘Help Without Trust,’ is a 20-second spot showing David Duchovny’s Mulder back once more with Jillian Anderson’s Scully, in one scene asking for the help of Mitch Pileggi’s Skinner, who they claim they cannot trust even though they need him at the moment (hence the name of the promo). Lots of action, lots of mysteries, and yep, as we said above, there are a few brief shots of an alien in the promo, which should get fans very excited, and get the theory mill running. Check it out for yourself below, and feel free to share your own thoughts and theories in the comments below that!
