Take a deep breath because we’re back with a brand spanking new Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! As always, things have been pretty busy since last week, but we love to make sure that we find the best of the best for you guys, and I think it’s safe to say that once again we have succeeded! This week we have awesome new items from Super7, Diamond Select Toys, NECA, and more! There are lots to love in the toy news for the week of October 24th, 2017!
Marvel Animated Minimates Are Back For More!
Although Marvel and Disney’s ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ animated series is coming to an end, Diamond Select Toys’ Marvel Animated Minimates line will be continuing onward! DST recently announced Series 7 of their fan-favorite Marvel Animated Minimates line, with new figures from Marvel’s ‘Avengers Assemble’ cartoon, as well as the addition of our first ever figures based on the new Spider-Man animated series simply called ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man’! The new wave is set to hit stores this December, check out the full details from Diamond Select Toys below!
Series 7 will hit Walgreens stores on or around December 1, 2017, and will include four different two-packs, each containing two 2-inch Minimates mini-figures. The assortment includes:
- From “Marvel’s Spider-Man,” Spider-Man faces off with the Scorpion! Criminal Mac Gargan wears a full scorpion suit with an articulated tail, while Spider-Man includes a webline accessory.
- Also from “Marvel’s Spider-Man,” Kid Arachnid, a.k.a. Miles Morales, tangles with the Vulture! The villainous Adrian Toomes features wings, a removable helmet, and a transparent flight stand, while Kid Arachnid comes with a webline accessory.
- From “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble,” Captain Marvel teams up with the Red Hulk! Kree-powered super-heroine Carol Danvers includes energy effects that attach to her hands and a transparent flight stand.
- Also from “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble,” Captain America puts on his own Hulkbuster armor to stand up to his old foe Baron Zemo! This is the first Minimate ever made of Steve Rogers’ red, white and blue Hulkbuster armor, and it includes a shield accessory and a hinged helmet. Classic Avengers villain Zemo comes with his sword.
Each 2-inch Minimates mini-figure features fully interchangeable parts, so you can trade accessories and create custom looks. Minimates also features a standard 14 points of articulation, to strike a variety of poses, and each Minimate comes with a clear disc base that pegs into the character’s foot to support dynamic poses.
Look for Series 6 in all Walgreens stores now, with Spider-Man and Iron Fist, White Tiger and Iron Patriot, Vision with Abomination and Black Bolt with Medusa! Find your nearest store at Walgreens.com!

Every once in a while, something comes along that isn’t quite a toy but falls so closely into the toys and collectibles category that we feel obligated to include it. This is one of those items. The team at Super7 are primarily known for their high-end toys and collectibles, and more recently they’ve become known as the heralds of the ‘Masters Of The Universe’ license since Mattel decided to start outsourcing it. That said, they have gone above and beyond to make ‘Masters Of The Universe’ fans happy with their products, and this next piece is one that likely won’t soon be forgotten. BEHOLD! Super7 has announced a life-sized articulated Skeletor Paper Cut Out Halloween Decoration!
Yes, you read that right. Super7 is producing a 55″ tall double-sided Skeletor Paper Cut-Out that has a wide range of movement and articulation for all of your decorating needs! This is the kind of item that rarely comes along, and ‘Masters Of The Universe’ fans are freaking out appropriately! Skeletor is made of a thick high-quality paper so that he won’t tear easily, and will last as the perfect all-year decoration well outside of the Halloween season. The only downside is his price tag, which is a whopping $45.00! Still, it seems like a small price to pay for such a unique collectible piece. A Super7 Exclusive! When Super7 decided to make a Skeletor Halloween decoration we wanted to make the greatest Skeletor Halloween decoration ever. However, in the process we kind of got carried away: This Skeletor is life-size! This Skeletor glows-in-the-dark! This Skeletor is made with the thickest heavyweight card stock we could find! This Skeletor is ridiculously large!
Honesty is our only excuse: Our Skeletor decoration is a perfect storm of impracticality!

NECA Brings The Hunter And The Hunted
The team at NECA are well known for giving horror and sci-fi fans just what they wanted in their products, and this week’s newest reveals are certainly no exception to the rule! We’ve got an early look at two awesome new products coming our way soon!
First up is a figure we’ve seen before with NECA’s new James Cameron figure from their long-running fan favorite ‘ALIENS’ line! Cameron was never actually featured in the film, but he certainly directed one long-lasting cinematic masterpiece, so this figure is more than an adequate tribute! This is our first look at the new ‘ALIENS’ James Cameron figure in packaging! James is due to hit the shelves this November!
Next up we’ve got a new take on some old classics! NECA is going back to give collectors a chance to pick up newly updated takes on a few fan favorite figures with a newly announced ‘Predator’ 2-pack! This new figure 2-pack includes new ‘Ultimate’ versions of Enforcer Predator and Bad Blood Predator! That means they’ve been updated to the highly articulated ‘Ultimate’ body sculpts and will probably feature a ton of cool accessories and interchangeable parts! Not many details are available just yet but stay tuned for more in the coming weeks!

The team at Hot Toys is at it again! This fall we’re getting our first ever live-action ‘Justice League’ adaptation from Warner Brothers Entertainment, and Hot Toys is ready with some awesome new 1:6th scale figures to make sure that this young new film series is well represented in your collections! This week they unveiled their new 1:6th scale ‘Justice League’ Aquaman figure, which features a distinct likeness of actor Jason Momoa! Hot Toys 1:6th scale ‘Justice League’ Aquaman comes packaged with a number of interchangeable parts, a trident, a Motherbox, and a special figure stand! Get ready for the Funko Forecast! This is where we’re going to be showcasing all of the cool new announcements and reveals from Funko! With all of the awesome that consistently seems to be flowing out of those guys, it shouldn’t be hard to keep this section alive each and every week!
The Funko DC Universe Expands
This week Funko announced a few awesome new items based on some fan-favorite DC Comics characters that we’re sure you’re going to love! First up we’ve got a new Previews Exclusive Funko POP! 2-pack that comes with everyone’s other favorite DC Comics duo, Blue Beetle and Booster Gold! There will also be a metallic colored chase variant version of this set when it releases sometime before years end!
We’ve also got a whole new wave of POP! Vinyls based on the popular ‘Teen Titans Go!’ animated series! Figures in the new wave include Robin as Nightwing, Robin as Red X, Mammoth, and Starfire as Batgirl! Additionally, there will be a few retailer exclusives like a Robin as Nightwing with Baby (Hot Topic), Robin as Red X Unmasked (Books A Million), and Rose Wilson (ToysRUs)! These are due out later this winter!
Gotta Go Fast!
It’s been quite a while since Funko visited this classic gaming franchise, but Sonic The Hedgehog is back with an all-new wave of POP! Vinyls! The new wave of Sonic POP!s is set to hit stores later this winter and includes Shadow The Hedgehog, Dr. Eggman, and two versions of our titular hero Sonic (one with a Golden Ring and one with a Chaos Emerald)! There are also some retailer exclusives including Super Sonic (Gamestop), Shadow with Chao (Hot Topic), and a Glow In The Dark Sonic with Golden Ring (ToysRUs)!
The Man Comes To Walmart
This winter you can find three special new POP! Vinyls of Stan ‘The Man’ Lee himself hitting Walmart stores exclusively! These three are part of a new series of ‘Cameo’ POP! Vinyls based on Stan’s various cameos across the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This first set of three includes Stan Lee in his cameo roles from ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’, ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, and ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’! These are due in stores by years end.

Funko is counting on these next few hitting you right in the nostalgia! Coming soon to your POP! Vinyls collection are the all-new 8-Bit POP! Vinyls line! This series contains a number of your favorite retro characters redone in 8-Bit video game style! The first sets include the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and an Alien Xenomorph! There will also be Gamestop exclusive NES Style Freddy and Jason POP!s, and a Comic Shop exclusive Bloody Alien Xenomorph! These are hitting stores this winter.
