The emotional rollercoaster that is the solo ‘Batman’ film continues, as after Ben Affleck assured fans at Hall H during San Diego Comic Con last month that he would not be abandoning the role of Bruce Wayne/ Batman anytime soon, it seems his little brother is telling the media a different story.
While talking to WEEI Sports Radio recently while promoting his new project ‘A Ghost Story,’ Casey Affleck spoke about his brother’s work as Batman and dropped some pretty major hints about whether or not Ben would be continuing to don the cape and cowl in the future. Check out the quote below and the full video below that:
“I thought he was an OK Batman. No, I thought he was great. He was great. He’s a hero, so he had something to channel and work with there. But he’s not going to do that movie, I don’t think. Sorry to say. Is that breaking news? Because I was just kind of making that up, I don’t know.”
The problem, of course, is that Casey almost immediately retracts the statement by claiming he was “just kind of making that up, I don’t know,” but it seems odd that he would even say it at all, especially when his brother went out of his way to assure fans that he was not going anywhere. Clearly, it seems there is more going on behind the scenes that we know, but where is the truth of the matter? Was Ben Affleck pressured into making positive public statements by DC/ Warner Bros, but his wildcard brother just ruined it all by sharing the family secrets? Or could Casey just be out of the loop and sharing Ben’s previous frustrations with the role without realizing that his brother has decided to forge on regardless?
What do you think here? Is there still a chance that Ben Affleck will not be Batman by the time we get the solo ‘Batman’ movie from Matt Reeves? Share your thoughts and theories down in the comments section!
A Southern California native (which seems to be a rarity as everyone seems to migrate here from outside the state, and everyone else born here ends up leaving for less crowded spaces), but for Nick, he loves it here. Nick has been writing since he was a teenager, self-published his first book trilogy, 'The Legacy of the Roras' back in 2011, and in 2014 published the inaugural issue of his first comic book, 'The Shadow of Aquaterra.' While not working on my own projects, he is working as a technical film editor at a major television network in their digital media division and recently began writing news and recap articles for ScienceFiction.com, a position which he has found extremely rewarding.
