Arrow Deathstroke

Stephen Amell has never been one to disappoint the ‘Arrow’ fans when making appearances at conventions, and his words during the Heroes and Villains FanFest in Nashville this past Saturday were no exception, as he delivered a few major hints about the fate of certain characters following the shocking cliffhanger at the end of ‘Arrow’ Season 5. For those who may not be aware, the season ended with everyone except for Oliver and his son, being caught in a massive explosion on the island of Lian Yu, leaving the potential for almost every major character on the show to have perished in the blast when Season 6 opens. However unlikely we all know that is, especially for the major cast members, we do know at least one side-character that will survive thanks to Amell.

“I can report that Manu Bennett [Deathstroke] is back to being a part of the show and I think we will see him multiple times this year, which is awesome.”

On top of having Oliver’s frenemy Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke, surviving the blast, Amell also spoke of a character coming back to the series that fans will not expect to see:

“…we have somebody returning to the show this year that we have not seen since Season 1.”

Also, semi-confirming (or maybe not…)_ their survival from the blast, Amell also revealed during a “two truths and one lie” game the following information about Season 6:

“Oliver and Slade have a scene in the present day; Diggle… deploys his gun and it doesn’t work; and Thea is in a present-day scene where we speak to one another.”

Since we know Slade lives, that one is most likely true, so he is lying about either Diggle or Thea, which worries me because that could mean either one could either perish or be badly injured in that blast, and with how little they used Thea in Season 5, I’m worried this may have been their chance to finally write her off the show, though I really, really hope they do not go in that direction.

Aside from reveals about the fate of characters, Amell also spoke on some details about the season, including the fact that “Oliver has an apartment this year” which I personally am relieved to hear because it has made no sense where the man has lived for awhile now. Also, in regards to the flashbacks which we had thought were finally over, it seems we were only somewhat right, as Amell stated that they will still happen on show, only they will be more to flesh out the backstories for the supporting characters, though I would not doubt that even Oliver could still have one every now and then. In the worlds of Amell,

“They are a part of the show’s DNA. I would expect to see them on a relatively regular basis.”
