It has long since been clear that Paramount sees ‘Transformers: The Last Knight‘ as a game changer, if not in a cultural sense, then certainly in terms of its implications for the ‘Transformers’ franchise. Not only is the film set to reveal a previously unseen backstory dealing with the history of the Transformers’ presence on Earth, but the studio is also using it to open the franchise up to a shared universe approach in lieu of the linear sequels it has favored so far.
But even beyond those big picture concerns, it seems as though ‘The Last Knight’ will also be a game changer for its characters. The most obvious example is Optimus Prime, who the trailers have seemed to place in an uncharacteristically villainous role. It now looks as though we can add Bumblebee to that list as well. Last seen assuming command of the Autobots during Optimus Prime’s absence in the wake of ‘Age of Extinction‘, a new clip released via the film’s official Twitter account demonstrates that even after ten years and five films, Bumblebee still has a few surprises in store.
In the clip, we see Bumblebee fall to pieces during a fight, only to reassemble himself. With the character due to star in the first ‘Transformers’ spinoff film next summer, it only makes sense to shine a spotlight on him in ‘The Last Knight’, whether that spotlight means new abilities, character developments, cool action scenes, or something else entirely.
