Gareth Edward’s (‘Monsters’, ‘In the Shadow of the Moon’) take on ‘Godzilla‘ will come roaring into theaters on May 16th, 2014 so there is still plenty of time for the filmmaker to give us a slew of teasers for the film. The current one? This amazing new poster that truly shows us the size of Godzilla as he is set to scale against a backdrop of a city that is falling before him.

With the original ‘Godzilla’ getting a limited re-release, it’s a scene like this that puts how dark the idea behind Godzilla is in perspective. He was supposed to recreate in monster form the feeling of destruction that a nuclear weapon could unleash.

I’m pretty sure the trailers for the film so far have hinted at just that.

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Seriously look at the size of him! In this shot, he completely towers over San Francisco and you really have to wonder how anyone could have a chance against the beast? To put him in perspective, the skyscraper pictured here is 48 floors high. As he is easily twice the size of the building that puts him at 100 floors high. To further put that perspective, the Willis Sears Tower is 108 stories high which makes the thought of this behemoth trampling through your city probably not too comforting.

What do you think of the latest poster for ‘Godzilla’? With it showing off exactly how tall the King of the Kaiju is in this film, do you think we are about to be given something quite amazing to behold? Share your thoughts below!

‘Godzilla’ will be released May 16th, 2014 and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn, and Bryan Cranston.
