FXX is going to have a new draw for comic fans as they’ve just worked out an agreement to bring an R-Rated ‘Deadpool’ series to the small screen by Donald Glover (‘Atlanta’). The first season will be a 10-episode run planned to launch in 2018 though a name has yet to be decided upon. The Merc with the Mouth is coming, and since Marvel has been much more lenient with Fox when creating animated shows, there are any number of guest appearances or cameos we could see happen. Most entertainingly would be if the show references the movies or Ryan Reynolds in any fashion.

As ‘Legion’ is on the network, it could be feasible to see the animated series make mention of it as well.

According to Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb:

“Deadpool, Donald, and FX — the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth!. We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”

FX original programming president Nick Grad stated:

“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta. With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”

It is doubtful that we’ll see Reynolds voicing the character in the animated show, but if a budget could be worked out, a voiceover cameo wouldn’t be too surprising. I could see Reynolds signing on to lend his voice just for his love of the character.

No matter how successful this ends up being though I wouldn’t expect to see it cut into viewship of ‘Deadpool 2.’

This isn’t the first animated version of ‘Deadpool’ either as he was in ‘Ultimate Spider-Man,’ the ‘X-Men: Animated Series’, ‘Marvel Anime: X-Men’, Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers’, and has a small spot in the animated film ‘Hulk vs. Wolverine.’ This series will be likely the most outgoing of all of his animated appearances though.

Are you looking forward to an animated ‘Deadpool’ series or do you think this could give us too much of the Merc with the Mouth? With an R-Rating, what character cameos do you think they will end up having? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
