Sylvester Stallone has released the scene of his ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ cameo, in which it is revealed that he plays Stakar also known as Star-Hawk, something we’ve known for a while.  In the clip, which Stallone presented on ‘Good Morning America’, he confronts Michael Rooker’s Yondu, shouting:

“You betrayed the code!  Ravagers don’t deal in kids!”

When Yondu stammers back:

“I told you before, I didn’t know what was going on.”

Stakar responds:

“You didn’t know because you didn’t want to know, because it made you rich!”

As you may recall, Yondu kidnapped Peter Quill/Star-Lord from Earth when he was just a boy.

As longtime comic book readers know, Star-Hawk and Yondu were part of the original Guardians of the Galaxy, who journeyed from the 31st century for adventures in the present (well, the 1960s-70s).  They were given honorary Avengers status.  In the early 90s, they were given an ongoing series set in their native 31st century.  (Fun fact, Star-Hawk shared a body with female member Aleta.  The pair would swap places until they were finally split into separate bodies.)

So, yes, the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ from the movie actually don’t have any of the original members.  But they did include Yondu in a supporting role and now with Stakar, these films are drawing in elements from the classic team.

As for Stallone, he captioned his tweet:

“This Marvel movie was a wonderful experience led by the brilliant director James Gunn.  Plus it was great to work with my old buddy, Michael Rooker from Cliffhanger days!”

James Gunn stated:

“He was amazing, he really was.  It was a bit intimidating, I must admit. Because, as a kid I grew up, running around in my backyard, pretending I was Snake Plissken or pretending I was Johnny Rambo. Those were my heroes as a child. So, all of a sudden, having to direct Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone in a movie is quite an amazing experience.”

Chris Pratt added:

“Sly’s the man.  He’s been the man since the jump. That guy’s one of the most prolific creators in Hollywood and he’s been a hero of mine since I was a kid.”

If you’ve seen ‘GotGv2’, what did you think of Stallone’s appearance?<

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2′ directed by James Gunn, starring Chris Pratt, Zoë Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, with Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone and Glenn Close and the voices of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper is in theaters now.
