While we know that ‘Edge of Tomorrow‘ has had a sequel in development for quite some time, there were two big revelations of the film that have surfaced. While being interviewed about ‘The Wall,’ we learned from Doug Liman that not only is the film set to be called ‘Live Die Repeat and Repeat’ but that Emily Blunt would be returning to the cast as well! At this time there are no plans for filming in place quite yet so if you were a fan of the first film I wouldn’t put a lot of hope in the sequel happening anytime soon.
Here is what Liman had to say about it though:
“We have an amazing story! It’s incredible! Way better than the first film, and I obviously loved the first film. It will be called Live Die Repeat and Repeat. Tom [Cruise] is excited about it, and Emily Blunt is excited about it. The big question is just when we’ll do it. But it’s not an if, it’s a when.”
It sounds like a solid plot has already been scripted out and that we’ll see the main stars returning. However, the when of it happening is still pretty much up in the air. Coordinating these actors and a director who all have a ton of films on their plate will be a feat in itself, not even to mention the rest of the cast and talent involved.
We also don’t quite know what the film will be about but that Tom Cruise had pitched the idea though the director has stated that “it’s going to revolutionize how people make sequels.” I’m interested but also weary about what the budget will look like compared to the original. While they have some all-star talent, involve it isn’t a film that has people talking about, and while I quite enjoyed it, It just isn’t one that you hear about all that often.
Are you looking forward to ‘Live Die Repeat and Repeat’? Do you feel that we’ll be given a new take on the same formula from the first or will the sequel go into an entirely different direction? Share your thoughts below!
