malcolm-merlyn-and-his-henchmen

We already know that John Barrowman‘s Malcolm Merlyn is an ongoing threat in ‘Arrow‘ and have just learned that he will not only “be a huge factor leading up to the finale” but will play a part in the legacy of the series. As that has been the theme behind this season, it sounds like we’re going to be in for something bigger than what he was in the first four seasons. It might quite likely have something to do with being a major villain on ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,’ and I suspect it will as it seems unlikely his actions there won’t factor in here as well.

Having teamed up with Reverse Flash, Damien Darhk, and Captain Cold to form the Legion of Doom, Merlyn will be a bigger threat having already once been partially responsible for changing reality.

The news came straight from Executive Producer Wendy Mericle:

“He’s going to be a huge factor leading up to the finale. This season is all about legacy, and when Malcolm comes into the story, it’s really rooted as much by necessity from Oliver’s point of view as it is about what Malcolm means to him and what Malcolm means to Thea. It’s a great story because it’s going to have a lot of action, but it’s also going to have this kind of emotional undercurrent that is going to lead to a really big, huge series moment for him. I think it’s a great story to tell, and it’s great stuff for John [Barrowman] to play.”

It will be interesting to see if his time in the League of Assassins or Legion of Doom will factor in here or his past deal with Dolph Lundgren’s Konstantin Kovar which was shown in a flashback. There are a lot of ways this could play out as we haven’t had a solid idea as to what Merlyn has been up to since being returned to his own timeline.
