Daisy-Ridley-rey

We all know that ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ ended on a huge cliffhanger and when ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘ picks up, we’ll see that Rey doesn’t find exactly what she’s looking for. At the Star Wars Celebration, Daisy Ridley commented on how what we’ll see in the movie might not be what fans want to hear. Of course, she is vague, so the saying is pretty open to interpretation.

While Ridley does say that the film will “deeper into Rey’s story,” and I’m sure we’ll see her grow stronger in the Force, things aren’t going to be quite that straightforward:

“Rey has a certain expectation as to what she might be getting from Luke and what that might entail. And as a lot of people might know, it’s difficult when you meet your heroes because it might not be what you expect.”

Now, the two easiest conclusions I can jump to from that is she believes that Luke is her father and isn’t or she expects Luke to save the galaxy and he won’t. While the first seems pretty feasible, the second could be that Luke no longer wants the responsibility of a new Jedi order after Kylo and his Knights decimated the younglings that he had been training. The trailer, in fact, seems to have him believing something quite shocking about the Jedi which might very well be what is hinted at here.

Hopefully, we’ll be getting a few more hints as the weekend’s Star Wars Celebration news keeps coming out.
