One of the remaining casting mysteries from ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming‘ is who exactly is Angourie Rice (‘The Nice Guys’,’Walking With Dinosaurs’) playing in the movie and due to a now-deleted tweet, that mystery may have been revealed!
First introduced in ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ the Marvel Studios take on the Wallcrawler is what fans have been asking for, and now we’re finally getting a look at his life outside of hanging with The Avengers. Outside of when Tony Stark makes his guest appearances, that is.
At this point, most of the cast, Parker’s Aunt May, and many of his high school friends have already been announced, including one that actually sounds like one of Miles Morales’ friends, but there was one big name missing from the lineup. Is she who we’ll see Angourie playing? Is that what the tweet hinted at?
Obviously, there is a potential web of spoilers below so if you want to go into the movie without a big reveal being ruined, then you may want to crawl back now!
Yes, the rumor has Rice playing Gwen Stacey, Parker’s first love whose death is often credited to have brought the end of the silver age of comics. The news appears to have come from an event for the film which took place in Japan that claims Rice confirmed who she was playing there. With her acting talents making her unlikely to be a background character in the film, this seems to be the best choice of characters for her to play and would open up a larger part for her in the sequel.
Again, this is a rumor, and the news came from a fan account, and neither Marvel Studios or Sony have confirmed it to be true at this time. If it does prove true, though, she will be the third actress to play the part as Dallas Howard portrayed her in Sam Raimi’s final ‘Spider-Man’ movie and Emma Stone did a fantastic job as the character in the two ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ films. That being said, there is always room for improvement, and with only a cameo so far, we’ve seen this new iteration of Spider-Man move to the top of many fan’s lists as to who played the best Peter Parker.

Synopsis:
