Michael Bay has recently announced that up to 14 ‘Transformers’ films were in the work after ‘Transformers: The Last Knight‘ is released and now is sharing some details on the ‘Bumblebee‘ spinoff which we knew was in development. Obviously, he doesn’t give out significant plot details about the film but does offer up that not only will it be a prequel movie, but we’ll not likely be seeing a cameo from Shia LaBeouf reprising his role as Sam Witwicky. With this not being a sequel to ‘Transformers: The Last Knight,’ it could very well mean that the hero’s fate might be coming to an end in the upcoming film though I suspect that the franchise has no plans to kill off such a fan-favorite.

While Bay is sharing details on ‘Bumblebee,’ it should be noted that it will be the sixth ‘Transformers’ film to be released though it will be the first which he won’t be sitting in the director’s chair for. There have been hints at Bumblebee’s past dropped in early footage of the upcoming film, so I suspect that we’ll be teased a larger story that he was a part of and see it happen in this standalone movie.

The news came out about the prequel status as well as the cameo in an interview the director had recently done for MTV:

“It’ll go a little younger, and it will deal more with his character, and it’s just about him.”

I think there is only one reaction at how fun a younger Bumblebee could be assuming they show him not stuck in the middle of a war:

The film is set to take place well before the events in the first ‘Transformers’ movie, and when asked where it would fit in the timeline all Bay would say is “Back” so I suspect we might even have this taking place on Cybertron.

Are you looking forward to the standalone ‘Bumblebee’ movie? What planet do you think the film will take place on or will it cover his journey to Earth if he didn’t come with the rest of the Autobots? Share your thoughts below!
