Marvel Studios and Sony are going to have a huge hit on their hand with ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming, film’ and now we’ve found a bit more about what to expect in the film. Tom Holland might be the star of movie as the Wallcrawler, but we also know that Tony Stark is going to make an appearance, so some of his work as Iron Man is mentioned here briefly as well. In fact, these reveals focus on the suit that Stark built!

The movie will start off having everyone’s favorite neighborhood Spider-Man in new clothes which were gifted to him, and while we know Stark will take them away partway into the movie, they’ll be awesome to see while we can!

The first neat feature is that while he has the suit, he will have a JARVIS styled AI helping him out. According to co-producer Eric Hauserman Carroll:

“Most notably, [the suit] starts talking to him, and he goes, ‘Oh, this is weird.’ And he starts asking it stuff, but he’s not super slick or Tony Stark smart, who invented the OS and did all this. He’s a kid. So he’s like, ‘Um, how do I get to where that thing is?’ And it’s like, ‘Um, I don’t know. Pretty much drive? How are you going to get there?’ And he’s like, ‘Um if I didn’t have a car, let’s just say, how would I get there?’ And it’s like, ‘Well if you walk…’ And he’s like, ‘No, OK, alright… I guess just give me directions and I’ll figure out the HOW I’m getting there.'”

It sounds like a few of these questions are ones he could pose to his phone as well. Even so, it’ll be fun to see how Parker interacts with his armor while he has it. Also on the new uniform will be some new and upgraded web shooters:

“That is sort of the interface for the web shooters. So even before [Tony Stark] deactivates the Training Wheels Protocol, he’s got a really high-tech web shooter. And one of the ideas is that when he does this [wrist-flick movement], he can adjust the spray, and he can even scroll through different web settings, like spinning web, web ball, ricochet web… you know, all of the stuff we can see him do in the comics, Tony has built into this. That was sort of unlocked for him. So when he shines that, it will go [boom noise], and if he wants to shoot just the one swinging web, it will go down really small. And if he wants to web a guy to the wall, it goes [makes noise] and goes like that. It’s kind of like a DSLR camera. He can shoot without it, or he can hold that thing a second, get his aiming right, and really choose a web to shoot.”

While I love that Parker invented them in the comics, for Marvel’s Cinematic Universe and the sake of streamlining the movies to be quicker in bringing us the action this makes total sense. Hopefully, this will lead to Peter making improvements of his own in the future.

One thing we’ve seen from the most recent trailer which is more reminiscent of Doc Ock as the Superior Spider-Man is that Spidey gets his own drone!

“At one point, there’s… the Spider logo on his chest goes [makes motion with hands] and floats off and starts giving him surveillance data, and he’s like, ‘What?’ In fact, that startles him when it happens because he didn’t even know that would happen.”

Don’t expect the gimmicks to end there, though:

“Long story short, we tried to look through the comics and pull out all of the sort of fun and wacky things that Steve [Ditko] did, which seemed even harder to explain when he built it in his own bedroom.”

What kind of features will we have in store for us? “It has wings in the armpits, It has a heater, It lights up, It has an airbag, It deploys a parachute during a mid-air battle with The Vulture, and It has a holographic interface.”

While all of these will be gone when Parker loses his suit to Tony thinking he isn’t using it responsibly, I suspect that we’ll see them return at the end of the movie. Either that or Parker will come into some kind of a resource that will allow him to make a new uniform that replicates most of these features. I’m just not sure how he would find the budget to do this without Tony’s help.
