Deadpool Cable

Everyone wants to know who will be playing Cable in ‘Deadpool 2‘ and director David Leitch shares why it won’t be Brad Pitt as well as his thoughts on Michael Shannon potentially taking the role. Whoever does end up taking the spot is going to have not only to be able to share screen time with Ryan Reynolds but will also have to be prepared to be committed to the franchise down the line for future ‘X-Force’ films and potentially popping up in ‘Deadpool 3’ and beyond.

This time commitment is pretty much exactly why we won’t be seeing Pitt take on the role:

“We had a great meeting with Brad, he was incredibly interested in the property. Things didn’t work out schedule-wise. He’s a fan, and we love him, and I think he would’ve made an amazing Cable.”

It looks like that rumor has officially been put to bed. However, we had also heard that Michael Shannon was up for the role and Leith weighed in on his joining the cast as well:

“You know, I think, Michael Shannon, that name speaks for itself, he’s an incredible actor, and he can accomplish anything. Yeah, I’m passionate about him as an actor and, look, he would make an incredible Cable. If that happens, I would be through the roof that I get to work with another incredible actor. I can’t say that it’s going to happen because we’re looking – the list is what the list is. But, yeah, I have nothing but great things to say about him, and I’m a huge, huge fan.”

It sounds like Shannon might still be in the process of being courted for the spot but with the film quickly moving forward I suspect we’ll hear confirmation of an actor to take on Cable sooner than later.
