Here we have the first news about ‘World War Z 2‘ that I am actually excited for as Brad Pitt (‘Inglorious Bastards’,’Fury’) is speaking with David Fincher (‘The Social Network’,’Gone Girl’) to direct the film. The two clearly enjoy working together and have collaborated on a variety of movies such as ‘Fight Club’, ‘Se7en’, and ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’. With multiple hits from working together, it should come as no surprise that Pitt would want the sequel to his largest grossing box office blockbuster to have Fincher at the helm. The two really are capable of making magic on the big screen.

This is great news as the film had seemed to have lost steam once director J.A. Bayona had backed out of the production due to a scheduling conflict.

It isn’t just Pitt and Fincher talking though as Paramount and Skydance have both been involved with these meetings. While Fincher usually avoids tent pole movies as well as sequels, it seems that this is a property he seems interested in tackling and after how much the first movie strayed from the novel it would be interesting to see if he brought back some of the ideas which were lost from it.

Lately Fincher has been busy doing TV these days with ‘House of Cards’ as well as two other series which were in production and fell apart. So while we won’t be seeing his 80’s themed ‘Living on Video’ or ‘Utopia’ it does open his schedule for a new cinematic experience.

Do you think that ‘World War Z 2’ would work with David Fincher helming the movie? Share your thoughts below!
