Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Vol-2-Kurt-Russell-as-Ego-the-Living-Planet-700x290

If you thought that both Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone were only set to appear in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘ then you may have thought wrong! We’ve just learned that Russell’s take on Ego The Living Planet and Stallone’s mystery character will likely be coming back for more thanks to director James Gunn.

While one might immediately jump to thinking that the third Guardians movie is where they would pop up, I would be hesitant to put all my eggs in one basket on that idea. I’ll get to that in a moment, first off let’s see what Gunn had to say about the two actors and their future in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe:

“This is definitely not a one-off [for them]. They’re both characters that we’ve taken a lot of time to develop, and they’re a big part of the MCU now.”

This is interesting for Stallone in particular on how much development went into him as before this Gunn had stated that his part was “a very, very key, important role. It’s not a huge role. He’s a great and key supporting actor.” So I’m not sure if they added more scenes with him or just built him up enough in this minor role or gave him a part that fans would instantly recognize as to how we might see him pop up in the future.

As to where they could appear, my money is on ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ With Thanos being the big bad of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe,’ he is going to need to have a few fights of cosmic proportions to truly show off his power, and if these two are going to be cosmic beings, it seems like the perfect setup for a fight.

Where do you think we’ll see Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone next pop up in a Marvel movie? Any thoughts as to who this might make Stallone’s character end up being? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
