secret-weapons-cover-01Before Valiant Entertainment puts a spotlight on their “Icons” the publisher is going to reveal its ‘Secret Weapons‘ and we’ve got the first look! Brought to us by Oscar Nominee Eric Heisserer (‘Arrival‘) who they’ve also tapped to write both ‘Harbinger‘ and ‘Bloodshot‘ for Sony with art by Harvey Award-nominated artists Raul Allen (‘Wrath of the Eternal Warrior’) and Patricia Martin (‘Bloodshot Reborn’), there is just a bundle of talent putting this book out. The first of this 4-issue miniseries is set to launch on June 28th so I suspect that we’re going to have a ton of details coming out in the next couple of months.

The purpose of the book is “to launch the super-charged heroine called Livewire into her very first solo adventure as she recruits a new generation of superhumans with unique abilities unlike any we’ve seen before…” Working for the government, we’ll see her investigating a facility previously run by Toyo Harada who is “the most powerful telepath on Earth and her former mentor.” This facility houses many of his failed experiments on psiots, and this is who Livewire will be pulling her team from.

Among those that she plans to recruit are “A young girl who can talk to birds… A boy who can make inanimate objects gently glow… To others, these are expensive disappointments.” It will be interesting to see how their powers stack up when they are forced to battle “a mechanized killer called Rexo” far before their training is complete.

Below is the first set of images from the new book:
