Matt ReevesAfter some heavy negotiations (and what seemed to be a sure deal), Matt Reeves has decided to walk away as a possible director for ‘The Batman.’

This is the second director that has walked away from the helmer’s chair with Ben Affleck, who has been very heavily involved in the project, stepping down just a few short weeks ago. While other names like Ridley Scott and Fede Alvarez have been tossed around to direct, Warner Bros has had their eye on Reeves as their top pick to handle this tentpole film.

No word as to what may have caused the negotiations to fall apart but THR  mentioned that “the possibility, however, exists that talks could resume when heads cool.” As to what would call for such a heated exchange between the studio and potential director is up to anyone’s speculation.

So while everyone is taking a time out right now, studio executives are still very eager to make the film and are now looking at other names to fill the spot.

More to come….
