A big question that fans are asking about the upcoming ‘Iron First‘ series on Netflix is whether or not Finn Jones is actually going to be wearing anything resembling the iconic costume his character wears in the comics at any point during the show. The question is a valid one, especially considering how long it took Matt Murdock to finally don the Daredevil costume during the first season of his series, same for Punisher during ‘Daredevil’ Season 2, and because both Jessica Jones and Luke Cage both do not wear their traditional costumes on their respective shows (though to be fair, Jessica doesn’t really wear her costume even in the comics, but that is beside the point) it really wasn’t an issue for them. For Danny Rand fans, that costume is very iconic as he wears it all the time and it would be very strange to never see it make an appearance in ‘Iron Fist’ or in ‘The Defenders.’ According to a very cagey Finn Jones during a recent Extra Facebook Q&A:
According to a very cagey Finn Jones during a recent Extra Facebook Q&A:
“I mean, who says there’s going to be a costume? This is a modern – I can’t say any more. Marvel are going to kill me. There maybe a costume, there may not be. We’re looking at a suit that, you know.”
The recent trailers clearly have given nothing away, keeping up the gritty feel of all of the Marvel shows that we have seen on Netflix, and while ‘Iron Fist’ is arguably the most supernatural of all the shows (and hence could get away with a more outrageous costume), they might be worried that adding the element of the hero in a costume all the time might be pushing the character and the show a bit too far for fans who have come to appreciate a certain level of “realism” from this brand of Marvel television. What are your thoughts on the matter? Would you like to see Iron Fist in his iconic costume? Or do you think it is more important to get the character right, and the costume is incidental?
