One of the films scheduled for release this year that has picked up significant traction with the pop-culture fans is ‘Kong: Skull Island,‘ a reboot of the King Kong-centric franchise that was announced last year to be part of a bigger “monster movie” crossover plan.  Before that happens, of course, ‘Skull Island’ will reintroduce audiences to the destructive nature of the gigantic ape – and now, we’ve been given not one but FOUR new TV spots showing new footage of the film.

In case you missed the mind-blowing announcement last year, it was revealed by Legendary Pictures that ‘Kong: Skull Island’ will not only be the re-introduction of King Kong, but it will serve as a precursor to an upcoming movie of truly epic proportions: King Kong will go up against Godzilla in a very “Knock Stuff Over” style crossover.  In 2014, the ‘Godzilla‘ reboot brought the enormous reptile back to cinematic prominence, and now Legendary has its sights set on the bigger picture; after 2019’s ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters,’ 2020 will bring us ‘Godzilla vs. Kong,’ what I can only assume to be a romantic comedy of some type.

Before all that, though, ‘Kong: Skull Island” gets its moment in the sun and in theaters, being released in just a few short weeks.  The film stars Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Brie Larson, Jing Tian, Toby Kebbell, John Ortiz, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, Shea Whigham, Thomas Mann, Terry Notary, and John C. Reilly.

Kong: Skull Island reimagines the origin of the mythic Kong in a compelling, original adventure from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific—as beautiful as it is treacherous—unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

‘Kong: Skull Island’ will be released in American theaters on March 10, 2017.
