Freeform debuted Tim Kring’s latest drama ‘Beyond’ online recently and the show has been so successful that they’ve already picked up another season! Clearly, the network is impressed as it was put online January 2nd and they’re already confident enough in the ratings to go back for a second run. News of the sophomore pick-up came during the show’s panel at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour where cast and crew learned about the renewal at the same time that the press did from Freeform’s president Tom Ascheim.
According to Ascheim:
Our goal for launching Beyond was to give the audience outstanding content in the way they want to watch it. The response has far exceeded our greatest expectations, both quantitatively and qualitatively, and we can’t wait to bring more Beyond to its growing fan base.
The series has garnered over 14 million views since the series premiered with over 7.2 million watching the premiere. This showing was Freeform’s highest set of ratings in their digital platforms in over four years. It was the biggest network that they’ve seen in over a year with 1.5 million total viewers and 500,000 among the adults 18-49 demographic which they are aiming for.
For those who love statistics we’ve got a few fun ones for you here as well:
- The first person to binge watch the entire series did so in under 10 hours from the initial launch on an iPhone
- 26% of those who viewed it in the first three days watched the series in a single sitting.
- 59% watched it within a day
- 93% watched it within two days.
- 51% of viewers of the series were new to the network.
Some of these numbers, specifically the last one, show why this could be such a draw for Freeform.
