iron-fist

Since the Marvel shows on Netflix all feature an origin story of some sort, those well versed in the comics should have a pretty decent idea of what to expect from the upcoming ‘Iron Fist’.  In the comics, wealthy Danny Rand (Finn Jones) finds himself in the mystic hidden city of K’un-L’un where he trains to become a master martial artist capable of channeling powerful magical energy.

But while the Marvel movie heroes travel not just the world but into other dimensions and outer space, the heroes of the Netflix shows have remained mostly grounded in Hell’s Kitchen and Harlem.  So it wasn’t necessarily a given that the TV Danny Rand would get to make that fateful journey to K’un-L’un, but fans can rest assured, thanks to co-star Jessica Henwick, who portrays Colleen Wing.

Henwick posted this photo to her Instagram account:

All the world… #K’un-L’un?

Since very little has been revealed about ‘Iron Fist’ prior to its release, so it’s unclear if the story will be told in a linear fashion or if it will include flashbacks.  (But after five seasons of ‘Arrow’, I’m cool with ZERO flashbacks to exotic lands, thanks.)

Joining Jones and Henwick are Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum, David Wenham as Harold Meachum, and Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum.  Also expect cameo appearances by Simone Missick as Misty Knight and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.

Later this year, look for Iron Fist and some of his compatriots to show up on crossover miniseries ‘The Defenders’.

‘Iron Fist’ will become available to stream in its entirety at 12:01 a.m. PT on Friday, March 17.
